I couldn’t express the ecstasy I felt when I saw this ad on the Boston subway:
This was actually the same idea I thought of posting around my school (University of Massachusetts Boston) at the start of the semester; actually what I intend was more graphic that this. I though of a caption like: “Imagine a world without God, a world without pain”, or “Could this be God? A root of all evil”. I don’t think any of those would have been approved though — and again, it gladden me that Americans are starting to see that there really exist some who don’t believe in myths; I should finally doff my hat to this open-mindedness.
Not so fast. I was dampened this morning as I heard the news that some sect have started a protest to have all the ads taken off the subways. Maybe they succeeded because I could find those ads anywhere around when I rode the subway today. What exactly is the ache with religious folks.
These folks who teach tolerance are the acute example of gross intolerance. I’m often puzzled how a God so big, so might, so this and that has trouble defending himself. Why would he leave such a task to mere mortals — would we even do it this way?
It’s becoming obvious as our society continues to grow how little of religion we need, And it would, as it has began to, dawn on religion that atheism is not longer taking the back seat.
Don’t get me wrong, atheism is not a rival to religion, it’s a transformation away from religion.
