working Cotton Fields [Poetry]

August 7th, 2009 § 0

Love it or not, accept it or reject it, America as I see it is still divided by race. Luckily I’m fully aware that being black automatically makes me a suspect 10 times a white young male. Well, I’m observing and writing on the racial issues, meanwhile, this has been on my mind and I prefer to let it out:

From pyramids to cotton fields,
longing of pursuits
The breaks of hardship -
Strong – hold on
I wouldn’t wish to see divides
I pause.

All I see is races faces
a disgrace to those faces
Faint or tint,
we seek oblivion
But these races are of faces,
Of faces divided.
