It continues to baffle me how, despite the illusion it creates, and the inverse relationship between money and happiness, most still devote their lives to pursuit of it — Money, the love of which is thr root of many evils.
It’ strange how happiness shows up strangest places. Recently, the reality hit me harder through this story:
“There was once a king who had more money than he knew what to do with. He owned several castles, and he rules with an iron fist. But no matter how much we had, he never seemed to have enough and was a very miserable ma. One day he told his servant, ‘I want you to go and search the land all over and find the happiest man on earth, bring me his shirt; once I have the shirt, I’ll wear it and will be able to be happy myself. I don’t want you to return withut teh shirt or you will be beheaded.’
The servant set out about his mission with zeal. Finally after many month of searching, the servant returned, on hands and knees, crawling before the kinf. The king noticed the servant hands was empty and became very angry. He told the servamts to explain why they have disobeyed hsi orders. With tears in his eyes, the servant looked to the king and said ‘Master, I did as you said, searched all over the earth looking for the happiest man and I finally found him. But the happiest man did not own a shirt.”
And here another interesting story that report on someone putting th illusion of money aside and living money-free. Read the story here.
