I was pulled over by a cop today for running a stop sign. I ended with a $25 ticket for not putting on a seat belt — lesson learned? The cop was black.
For this week and past the news of Prof. Gates from Harvard has been over the news and I mentioned it briefly. The conclusion of the issue was, either we prefer to face it or not, there is still strong racial tension in America. And, it’s frequently blacks that, in my opinion are prone to be victimized.
Another way I’ve looked at being black in America is, how about if I obeyed the law and do all as I’m told ignoring the skin color of the cop who will be pulling me over. Or, how about if Prof. Gates have been more accommodating to the cop (though I wasn’t there I can be sure Prof. Gates must have been rude/snaky, typical of Ivy League Profs have meta dn their brags about their connections) and the case wouldn’t have escalated this much. Point is, maybe blacks are putting themselves in a position to be victimized.
Before I settle on that conclusion, what is with the rest of the race? Blacks are definitely three only one committing offenses but it’s usually more noteworthy if a black commits it (in an effort to make their inferiority obvious). If you doubt me just watch the media report of a black crime and a white crime.
Whenever I get pulled over, my first reaction is to see if the cop is black or white — if he/she is black, I get relieved but if white, I get a bit concerned, so far I’ve been in luck of been pulled over by black cops. Not that I’m worrying that a white cop might not be just, I just think black and white see the world somewhat differently and let’s not forget both side’s history.
We’re constantly advised to move on, and we have which is why, acts of racism doesn’t surprise me the slightest.
